Small businesses often have a hard time with IT. Often too small to be able to afford a full time IT person, they rely on someone who happens to be “good with computers” manage their IT systems. The result is that they have someone supporting their IT infrastructure whose real job is something other than supporting their IT infrastructure, taking them away from their real job at possibly inopportune times, and an IT system that isn't getting the care and attention it really needs.

A few thoughts for you. When was the last time your data was backed up? If you had a computer fail, could you continue working as usual? Do you or someone on your staff work away from the office often, and can you/they still access all the data needed whilst away?

You can collaborate on documents in a shared workspace using "SharePoint Services" which comes with Windows Small Business Server.

You can have email directed to your own desktop using Outlook, and even access your mail from any internet connected computer.

All your printers can be shared and if you use Fax, that can be included on the server so that incoming faxes can be directed to your email inbox.
